What is Profractional®?

Profractional (click link)is a laser therapy that rejuvenates the skin and creates a younger looking face by treating old epidermal pigment cells without affecting any of the surrounding tissue. Profractional® (click link)is FDA approved to reduce fine lines, smooth out acne scars and rough skin, and remove sun damage, melasma and brown spots. It has the added benefit of reinvigorating aging skin.

Consult with a specialist, Dr. Robert Gray, a dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon, for Fractional Resurfacing in the Bay Area or Blackhawk, Central Valley, Manteca, Danville, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Tri Valley Areas.
How does the treatment work?

The laser targets aging and sun damaged skin, creating microscopic wounds within specific areas beneath the top layer of skin. The body’s natural healing process is triggered, accelerating the growth of new collagen and healthy skin. Fractional Resurfacing can do many wonderful things for the skin.

First of all, a general concept of skin treatments say that the deeper you can treat the skin the better the end result will be but also the longer the recovery. This is certainly the case with traditional laser resurfacing techniques.

The benefit of Fractional Resurfacing over traditional laser resurfacing is that we can go MUCH deeper in the skin (especially for deep acne scars) but have a MUCH quicker recover.

How can Fractional Resurfacing do this?  The answer is amazing.  This techniques creates micro laser spots and leaves some untreated non-lasered skin next to the laser-treated skin which will allow the laser-treated skin to heal and repair itself so much quicker.

So we get the benefit of a much deeper treatment but don't get the drawback of increased downtime.

Dr. Gray is very excited about offering this treatment in combination with all of the other lasers at MD Spa.

How many treatments are required?

The most effective results occur with three to five treatments spaced about three weeks apart.
Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are minimal and typically involve swelling and a sunburned effect, both of which subside in a few days. Moisturizers alleviate these side effects. There is a minimal risk of infection or scarring.
Will there be any downtime?
In most cases there is very minimal downtime with Profractional®.(click link)
What are the benefits of Profractional® over other treatments?
Because Profractional®  (clink link)has the impact of ablative lasers and the gentleness of non-ablative lasers, healing time is significantly faster than with most other types of treatment. Makeup can be worn immediately following the treatment.
How soon will results appear?
Results will reach their full potential in two to three months. This time frame allows for complete healing and replacement of damaged tissue.
How does the treatment feel?
Physicians may use an anesthetic block or cream to reduce the discomfort of the procedure. Most clients who feel tenderness describe it as a prickling sensation.
Instructions for after treatment:
Apply SPF 30 or higher every day, and avoid direct sunlight for three months after the procedure.
