 What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite-based injectable gel used for softening the nasolabial folds, building the cheekbone area and treating fine lines, depressions and scars. It is based on a natural substance found in the human body and is non-allergenic so a skin test does not have to be performed before treatment.
Consult with specialist, Dr. Gray, a dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon, and his staff at MD Laser Spa for Radiesse in the Bay Area or Blackhawk, Central Valley, Manteca, Danville, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Tri Valley Areas.
How does the treatment work?
Tiny needles inject the gel into the wrinkles or problem areas on the face. Radiesse's microspheres are suspended within a gel carrier. The gel is replaced with natural soft-tissue, providing scaffolding for tissue infiltration and growth.
What are the results?
Radiesse can either shape facial contours, smooth wrinkles or sculpt lips. The final result leaves your facial features looking healthy, more youthful and fuller.
Are there any possible side effects?
There are some possible side effects including swelling, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site.
Will there be any downtime?
There will not be any downtime, but there may be some swelling and redness following treatment.
What are the benefits of Radiesse?
Radiesse provides immediate results, is non-allergenic, long lasting, cost effective, and there is no need to harvest skin or fat from another part of the body. Radiesse remains soft and pliable for years.
How long does a Radiesse treatment take?
Radiesse treatments take about fifteen minutes.
What areas respond best to this treatment?
The areas that respond best to Radiesse are around the nose, mouth and the cheeks.
How does the treatment feel?
The treatment is injected through a very thin needle. Some discomfort is to be expected, but a local anesthesia block is applied to ensure comfort. Dr. Gray feels it is very important to reduce or eliminate all discomfort during any treatment.
While others may charge you for the comfort of an anesthetic block, it is included in your treatment at MD Spa.
How long do the results last?
Radiesse results generally last up to a year and more.
Is additional treatment necessary?
Generally, only one treatment is necessary. Possible touch-up sessions can be performed every several months or few years.
Instructions for before treatment:
Tell Dr. Gray about any allergies you have to foods, drugs or environmental elements, any serious medical conditions and all medications you are taking (both prescription and non-prescription). Carefully follow any instructions your doctor gives you regarding eating, drinking and smoking.
